This course begins by exploring the societal benefits of electricity and delves into its fundamental components: voltage, current, and resistance. It distinguishes between the two main types of electricity and presents UK accident and fatality statistics, along with mnemonic aids for understanding electrical hazards. Additionally, it provides essential guidance on how to respond safely in the event of an electric shock.

As the course progresses, it offers an overview of the primary standards, regulations, and legislative measures governing electrical safety in workplaces. It concludes by outlining simple maintenance protocols and portable appliance testing (PAT), detailing the roles within an organization responsible for conducting these checks.
