Course Overview

Emergency First Aid is the immediate assistance provided in the event of an incident. While many of us may not encounter severe injuries daily, basic first aid often involves simple actions like applying a plaster to a minor cut. However, this course prepares individuals for more serious situations by highlighting common emergencies and equipping them with essential response techniques.

In critical scenarios, a first aider’s role is pivotal in assessing the situation accurately to relay vital information to emergency services promptly. Subsequently, they take appropriate actions to enhance the patient’s chances of survival.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will:

• Understand the fundamental principles of first aid and its importance in emergencies.
• Apply the ABCD approach (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability) and know how to position someone in recovery.
• Perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and use AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) effectively.
• Address common emergencies such as choking, bleeding, shock, and spinal injuries.
• Manage incidents competently, including record-keeping obligations.
