Course Overview

Food handlers and their employers bear a legal responsibility to manage food safety, governed by EU and UK laws. These regulations mandate that food must be safe for human consumption throughout its preparation, cooking, serving, and sale processes. Neglecting food safety standards can lead to contamination with potentially severe consequences.

Our online training equips employees with essential awareness of food safety risks and educates them on how these risks arise and can be controlled and prevented.

The Level 1 Awards in Food Safety are particularly suited for:

  • New employees with limited or no prior food safety knowledge.
  • Employees handling low-risk or wrapped foods (category A).
  • Front of house staff, such as waiting or checkout personnel.
  • Back of house staff, including kitchen porters or warehouse personnel.

Please note, while this course provides foundational knowledge (Level 1), it does not lead to a formal qualification.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  • Identify key legislation pertaining to food safety and its application in food manufacturing.
  • Recognize potential hazards from food delivery through to service and understand methods to mitigate them.
  • Understand the role of micro-organisms in foodborne illnesses and food poisoning.
  • Explain safety procedures that aid in risk control within the workplace.
  • Demonstrate the importance of effective pest control measures.
